After a lot of back and forth, the Detroit Tigers and starting pitcher Justin Verlander have finalized a deal worth $80 million. The 26-year-old Verlander is regarded as one of the best young pitchers in baseball. In the final three years of the contract, Verlander will earn $20 million each season.
Last year, Verlander was 19-9 with a 3.45 ERA in 35 starts. In 240 innings, he had 269 strikeouts and allowed only 219 hits. Verlander has a career 3.92 ERA and a record of 65-43.
