(Updated) Not too much change in the ratings for the evening news broadcasts last week. "NBC Nightly News" stayed on top, but "ABC World News" had its smallest Total Viewer gap of this year. "Nightly" and "World News" were the only programs up year-to-year in Total Viewers.

Week-to-week, all three newcasts were down slightly in the demo and only ABC was up in Total Viewers by a small amount.

TVNewser hears, however, that Blitzer assured CNN colleagues who had read the piece earlier today that he had not "shaved" the beard, but it had merely been "trimmed" closely.
