This just in: The House of Representatives voted unanimously today to impeach New Orleans federal judge Thomas Porteous.

Here’s an AP report on the vote ─ a very rare rebuke.

Only 14 federal judges have ever been impeached.

The House approved four impeachment articles charging Porteous with taking payoffs and lying under oath. The case now goes to the Senate, where a two-thirds vote is needed to convict the judge of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Everyone says we should look to Pennsylvania as a bellwether of 2010 politics. We have the most number of competitive Congressional races, and we’ve got major statewide elections that will drive people out to the polls more so than other states in this year’s non-presidential cycle. Good for us, bad for the Administration. Maybe it’s time for him to come around a full 180 and help push a major piece of pro-2A legislation through Congress. Maybe then we can lend President Obama some of NRA’s popularity with voters. Unfortunately, I give the odds on that somewhere south of having Rahm Emanuel showing up naked and screaming obscenities on Chris Cox’s lawn one morning.
