Last night assembled crowds solemnly applauded as, one by one, Broadway theatres dimmed their lights at 8pm, in honor of Natasha Richardson.
With his eyes shielded beneath a peaked cap, grief-stricken husband Liam Neeson and his mother-in-law Vanessa Redgrave were supported by friends and fellow performers including Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick during the touching tribute.
He attended the public event only 24 hours after making the heartbreaking decision to turn off Miss Richardson’s life support. Broadway has a special place in Neeson’s heart as it was there that he met Miss Richardson in 1992, when they appeared on stage together.
An autopsy report found that Natasha died from an epidural haematoma – bleeding on the brain – caused by a “blunt injury to the head”.
