I began working as a Junior Software Developer in ACTICO’s Compliance & Client Management department in 2018. I mainly work with the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Name Matching Transaction (NMT) compliance modules. I use CI/CD (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery & Continuous Deployment) methods to implement new features in our clients’ solutions and continuously adapt the applications so that they are ideally suited to our clients’ day-to-day operations and compliance requirements. Working so closely with our clients means my work is always very interesting and varied.
I began working at ACTICO while I was studying Applied Computer Science at Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences. After a three-week internship, I continued working for ACTICO alongside my studies, during which time I wrote my Bachelor’s thesis on “Compliance Suite – Architectural Conversion and Microservices”.
I was thrilled to be offered an opportunity to spend a semester working at ACTICO’s Chicago office. I was involved in current projects right from the start and was gradually given more of my own tasks and responsibilities. For example, I created and tested an SOAP interface and was given responsibility for presenting it to the client and showing them how to customize and implement it.
My stay in Chicago taught me a great deal, both professionally and personally. For example, I learned how to organize myself and find my feet in a different culture. I also learned how to work constructively with others in an international team.
What do I like most about ACTICO?
ACTICO attaches great importance to professional and personal development. It organizes a range of activities, such as team-building events, Lunch and Learns, and monthly student workshops where students can share their knowledge and experience.? There are also regular feedback interviews so that staff can discuss their current situation and how they would like to develop.
